The Image Theatre: An attempt to change the title

Lecture by Isam Husain
4 September 2008

The image theatre enjoyed a prominent place in the Iraqi theatre, as a modern and important trend which had a clear and vital impact in the development of Iraqi theatre.

This theatrical trend was not confined only to the region of Iraq, but it was extended to include many Arab countries, such as Morocco.

The spreading of Image theatre to these regions was primarily due to the active and pioneering role Dr. Salah Al Qasab had played in spreading this art form. So much so that, Image theatre have now become synonymous to Salah Al Qasab. No sooner the name of Image Theatre is mentioned that his name is mentioned in the same breath.

What is Image theatre? Is there any theatrical performance that is without image?

I will attempt in my search to throw some light on Image Theatre, as well as on its Iraqi creator Dr. Salah Qasab.
