Iraq: Then & Now
Karen Dabrowska and Geoff Hann will discuss their book Iraq: Then & Now and invite members of the audience to share their experiences of life in Iraq before and after the change of 2003.
This guide to Iraq and its people surveys the country's historyfrom Sumerian times to the post-Saddam period. The text is interspersed with numerous short articles by Iraqis themselves: from poets to politicians. There is an A - Z of the major archaeological sites and the final chapter deals with Iraqis in exile.
There is also a travel section focusing on Iraqi Kurdistan.
Rather than cursing the darkness the authors hope their book will be a candle that sheds light on the Iraq of today and looks forward to a future of achievement, development and positive interaction between the peoples of Iraq and the rest of the world especially the West.
